Just when I thought it was getting better...

Wild Man started to be such a good big brother. He started playing nicely with Romeo and actually having fun with him. If Romeo wasn't around, Wild Man would ask where he was and be very concerned.

Just when I thought it was getting better there is always a setback...

Yesterday we were listening to the Laurie Berkner band. (Highly recommend this DVD) Conner wanted to show Daddy his new choreography skills. So Mr. Genius took some pictures and at just the right moment turned to camera to the video mode.

So here is what happened.

The first song he ran to catch me during "I'm going to catch you"

Saying AHHH on "Nurse Day"

Wild Man listening to the sounds

Then we started "Marching like a Dinosaur" It started out so cute.

If you are wondering where Wild Man is during all of this. He is sitting on the floor just admiring his big brothers every move. And then this happens...

What is up with Wild Man saying Ow after he kicking Romeo. And then Romeo didn't even whimper, not one bit. He acted as though this is completely normal.

Mr. Genius thinks that Wild Man will be a football kicker especially how he set up the ball (aka Romeo's head) before the kick.

2 baths in 1! YEAH!

The boys are taking a bath together now!

Romeo only feared his life 3 times.

So there is still room for improvement.

As soon as we put them in the bath together, Wild Man immediately hoarded all the toys.

Tomorrow our goal is that Romeo only has the look of terror once.

Tylenol overflow

I hope your day has been better then mine.

Today we have definitely kept Tylenol in business.

This morning Wild Man woke up with a fever which broke and then came back higher.

Romeo is teething for the first time. He is getting not 1 not 2 but 4 teeth! All on top! None on the bottom!

The first one is his left incisor tooth.

Nothing with this child is normal.

At 5:30pm Wild Man fell asleep on the couch so I went ahead and put his in the bed. Which means he will probably be wide awake at 3 am tomorrow morning.

Since Wild Man went to bed early I put Romeo in the big bath tub for the first time.

He loved it.

Tomorrow night I may attempt to give them a bath together.

He was just thrilled to be able to play with the "forbidden" Wild Man's toys.

This past weekend.

This is a little late, but we have had VBS this week.

I am pretty tired.

I did crafts for 2nd graders.

Did you know that there are A LOT of 2nd graders out there that do not know how to tie a knot!!!!

Seriously!!

This is crazy.

I thought that was a prerequisite to get into kindergarten.

You can guess that my fingers are pretty tired for tying knots for over 110 kids everyday.

Anyways, Uncy (pronounced un-key) Andy and Aunt Kat came up to visit for Eli's birthday party. So I thought I would share some pictures of their visit. We forgot to take pictures of the birthday party, but I am sure that Jenny will have plenty of her site soon.

Wild Man started this cute way that he stands when he starts to race.

Uncy Andy joined in.

Here is Wild Man running for his life away from the crazy jumping man.

Kat is totally acting like this is a normal ritual in the Spottswood household for Andrew to leap in the air. Andrew, Lord of the Dance will be calling you soon.

By they way Kat is 7 months preggers in this picture. Isn't that just sick. At 6 months I was the size of the whole couch.

Wild Man totally thinks that he can take Uncy Andy down.

Romeo spending time with Pop on Father's Day.

As this week went on it was harder to convince Wild Man to go to VBS. But there was one thing I could always say to bribe him to want to go.

I wish I could say that he was so excited to learn about all the wonderful things that God has given us or to learn more Bible stories or even just to go and play with friends.

No, it wasn't any of that.

All I would have to say is "Wild Man, Bible School will have a fun, new snack!"

One day he got so excited that he ran to the door that went to the garage and he broke the baby proof door knob.

Here he is realizing he did something bad.

Then he quickly tried to get rid of the evidence.

Even though VBS was a crazy week, you can't deny the power of God at work with over 200 children who at least showed interest in wanting to know more about what it means to become a Christian and be baptized!

New Vision did a great job this year with VBS.

Now we just need to work on the parents of these kids so that they can learn tie their shoes.

The 5th member of our family

I was reminded of this story this weekend at Eli's 1 st birthday party (Happy Birthday Eli) by my aunt. So I thought that I would share and also it would be good for me to write it down to remember it.

Every morning while I am getting breakfast ready and at night while I am getting supper ready I watch the news. Mostly for the weather, but also to see what is going on in the world. Well as you know they are always talking about the presidential race.

Well apparently the Presidential race intrigues Wild Man. Future politician I assume.

One night I was putting Wild Man to sleep and we were doing our prayer and we were saying what we are thankful for.

Wild Man said " Mommy, Daddy, Mason and Boc Obama"

That's right people Barack Obama!

I guess we have added a 5th member to our family.

Since that night whenever he sees Barack Obama on TV he gets excited and lets me know that he really likes "Boc Obama".

When it comes time to vote I know who he would be voting for.

I guess it is a good thing that he can't vote yet. :)

My Suprise this morning

I went to get Romeo when he woke up from his morning nap. And this is what I saw...

He sat up by himself! Both my boys are growing up!

Now time to lower the mattress. (Sigh)

New Blue Foods

Today we tried some new foods that were blue.

Wild Man loves blue jelly beans

And Romeo loves blueberries

One step closer

Wild Man is sleeping in a big boy bed!

Mr. Genius and I were expecting the worst night ever. I made sure that Mr. Genius would be home and not have to work the next couple of days, in case we only got 30 minutes of sleep.

First as a gesture to show Wild Man would not have the baby bed anymore, we told Wild man that he should give the bed to JJ and Pop so that Eli and baby Griffin (Kat and Andrew's soon to be addition) could sleep in it.

Wild Man helped us take out his blankets and walked with us over to JJ and Pops.

He never protested.

Wild man also helped me put bells on his doorknob so we could hear him if he tried to get out of his room.

That night Mr. Genius did the normal night time routine and just layed him in the bed and told him he couldn't get out. Wild Man cried for about 20 minutes and only got out once! Since then we haven't had a problem. Nap time went great too. It is such a blessing. I was really worried about this. Wild Man doesn't take to change very well.

Although, it was funny. On the first night at 3:30am Wild Man started crying again. I thought maybe he realized he wasn't in his baby bed. Mr. Genius went up there. Wild man had dropped his blanket on the floor right by the bed and his cars were on his bedside table. He wanted them. Apparently we have really put the fear of God in him for getting out of the bed because he wouldn't do it.

Here is his bed:

The bedside table was within 5 inches of him and this bed is VERY low. Wild Man can't even fit below this bed it is so low to the ground.

So the fact that he wouldn't reach the blanket and the cars makes me think that we have done our job well!

I think that parenting is a good combination of threats and bribery. The threats really worked for us on this occation.

The next step closer to being a big boy is potty training. So not looking forward to that one.

Pictures

Today Mr. Genius (who is taking a few days off of work for our staycation) and I decided to take the boys to get their pictures taken.

We are exhausted.

I know that you are not suppose to compare your children, but Romeo is a lot harder to please then Wild Man was at his age. If there was only a way that I could have been holding Romeo the whole time and they could have superimposed me out of the picture. That probably would have been the only way that he would have smiled.

It started out OK, it was a lot of work just to get what we did. Here are a few pictures of the session.

Nana (Mr. Genius' mom) made these cute outfits for the boys.

I don't know what Wild Man is saying to Romeo, but it sure has Romeo worried.

I liked this picture, but I am not a huge fan of this background.

For the life of us, we could not get both the boys smiling at the same time. So this was the best picture we could get.

I have a picture of Wild man at 6 months in a frog towel, so I got Romeo in a duck towel.

Look at that sweet face. I just want to eat him up.

Then I had a bright idea of doing something creative.

If I try to be creative again someone stop me.

I decided for some strange reason that it would be cute to put Romeo in a big bowl of spaghetti and have Wild Man standing next to him dress like a chef.

First of all they were over taking pictures, so that didn't help, then I remember that Romeo doesn't even like to sit in the grass, so apparently I thought spaghetti would be OK.

Then they just decided to hate me.

It was at this point that I realized that my boys can't stand me anymore. I became THAT mom that forces there kids to do crazy things just because I think they are cute.

So the pictures didn't come out like I would've thought. But in the end we at least got our 6 month pictures of Romeo (Although he is really 7 months, shhhhh!). Even if I lost all respect from both my boys.
