What has been happenin'

Boy this has been a long month.

The sickness lasted for over 20 days I like to call the Hurlapalooza of 09!

First I got sick ,then Wild Man, then Romeo, then me, then Romeo, then me, then Romeo and me, then just me, then...well you get the picture.

It hasn't been fun.

Well truth be told we are not really sure if Romeo and I really got sick. Other people around us who got sick, would only be sick for 24 hours and then they were done. Mine would last for 3 or 4 days straight with 2 days of relief and then start all over again.

Also for those of you that had the privilege of knowing me right out of college knew I went through a crazy, random barfing phase.

Yes, you read that right.

Random barfing.

Kind of like random selection.

It was crazy I would be driving to work and all the sudden throw up all over myself.

Let me tell me you the first time it scared me to death. I had to turn around run home changed clothes cleaned my car, and gave my roommates a good laugh.

This happened for 4 straight years. Then just as suddenly as it started, it stopped.

I went to Dr.'s about it and they all assumed I was pregnant. I can not tell you how mad that would make me. I would ask them to give me a pregnancy test so they can see that that wasn't an option and then we can try to figure this out but nothing was ever determined.

Well we are wondering if it is starting up again and even worse we are wondering if Romeo has it too. The whole time Romeo and I were "sick" we never had a fever. Which is why I am thinking we didn't have a virus.

This morning Romeo threw up again in his bed but he didn't have a fever and he acts perfectly fine.

It is crazy.

Romeo has an appointment on Monday with the Dr. and since there is no way he can be pregnant I am hoping we can figure this out.

We are hoping it is something simple, like reflux.

Anyways, because we weren't sure if we were sick or not. We were stuck in the house the WHOLE time. Stir Crazy does not even describe how crazy we were feeling about our longing to get out.

I turned our garage into a playground.

We have given every toy car in the house a bath...three times.

Oh the days I was feeling good I actually started on my goal of organizing.

I am happy to say that I am DONE!

With just the kitchen that is.

But I am pretty proud of that considering I was laying on the floor half of the month.

Here are some pictures of the month.

Here is Wild Man giving his cars a bath.

This was a day I was actually feeling good, so I scrubbed the kitchen floor.

Romeo, who has turned into my little helper, wanted to help me.

But he has rules. He helps if I stand or sit right next to him. The second I pull back to relax or take a picture. He stops and tries to hand the brush back to me. As if to say " I'm not doing it if you aren't doing it."

Here he is giving me back to scrubber.

Also, because I am a gluten for punishment. I found a side table on Craigslist for FREE! I couldn't pass that up, and the boys need their own little eating table. So I started another project.

Here is the table when we first got it.

I didn't get a good after picture, but here are the boys in their capes around the table after I painted it.

I want to get little wooden chairs to put with them. I have been looking on craigslist but haven't found matching ones.

Here are the boys running around in the their capes.

One last story.

So I can make this my longest post ever.

Apparently I was sick so much that the boys went into survival mode. One time when I was hugging the porcelain throne.
Here is what I heard.

Romeo "Whaaaaa" probably doing sign language for eat.

Wild Man "Here little buddy I will get you something to eat."

Romeo "He He" that is him laughing. Which is what he does when he realizes you are giving him what he wants.

Wild Man "Would you like some grapes?"

I finally pulled myself up off the bathroom floor and grabbed my camera.

Here is Wild Man getting the grapes for Romeo.

The boy even got a bowl to put Romeo's grapes in.
Next I need to teach him to button his britches. Details go out the window when you can't haven't held food down in a few days.

Hopefully next month will be easier on us.

Tagged!

I was tagged by my Sister in law Kat. It has taken me awhile to get to it due to everyone in this house has been sick at one time or another for over 2 weeks. Yesterday some friends stopped by and as I was showing them our new bedroom I had to kicked them out due to the sudden need to bow to the porcelain god...not one of my prouder moments. Then today Romeo threw up in the cereal aisle at Publix. Fun times!

So back to the tag.

Here are the rules:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 2 to 5 sentences, along with these rules.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual book. Pick the CLOSEST!
6. Tag five other people to do the same!

So considering all the books closest to me don't have more then 15 pages due to loosing a 3 year old's interest I did have to dig a little for a book. I went to the playroom and the first book I saw was "The power of a praying woman" by Stormie Omartian. It is what I am reading right now for my quiet time. Which unfortunately is not a daily quiet time. It is a when I get up before the boys at 5:30 am quiet time or a when I don't pass out on the couch due to being completely exhausted during nap time quiet time.

For what it is worth, it is a great book. Unfortunately this excerpt she is only quoting the Bible so you don't really get a feel for what the book is about. This chapter is about His Finances.

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse" and see if He "will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it" (Malachi 3:10). We had also been faithful to give to the poor and those in need. "Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth" (Psalm 41:1,2).

I don't have the brain power to think of 4 more people to tag, so if you haven't been tagged consider yourself tagged!

Hope you all have a puke/diarrhea free week!

Our Bedroom

Sorry it has taken me so long to post the pictures of our bedroom. I wanted to get all the Christmas stuff down first and then I got sick. I am still a little sick. I don't know what is wrong with me. I am nauseous all the time, no food tastes or even looks good, I have gotten sick a couple of times. I am just completely drained of energy. If I didn't know better, I would think I was pregnant.

Just for clarification I would like to reiterate that last statement.

I AM NOT PREGNANT.

Now Mr. Genius and all the grandparents can let out a big sigh of relief.

I think it is some kind of stomach bug. I have gotten my flu shot but that doesn't always mean anything. So I guess it could be the flu.

But whatever I have, it isn't fun. I haven't had the energy to go or do anything. Other then going to the grocery store on Monday, my poor boys have been stuck in this house all week. I usually get out of the house at least once a day whether it be to run an errand or go somewhere fun. I don't like to just sit around.

Today I am starting to feel a little better. I actually made my bed! So I took a picture of this miraculous event to prove to Mr. Genius that I can once again be productive. Now I will post it on the web for all to see.

Now back to us redoing the bedroom.

So for Christmas I gave Mr. Genius an air compressor and a nail gun and he gave me wood trim, cornices, and paint.

Aren't we romantic?

But together, our gifts and endless hours of hard work, made a room I am pretty proud of. What we thought would be a long weekend project turned into an almost 2 week project.

First off I will show you my favorite part, the ceiling.

Those squares where a booger.

Well easy for me to say, this was Mr. Genius' baby.

I don't know what Mr. Genius and I were thinking, our builder did not make anything in the house straight or centered. So why we thought that the light fixture would actually be in the center of the ceiling, is beyond me.

So all the measurements we did before we put the trim up had to be thrown out. So actually none of the squares are the same size. Matt just made sure that the distant between all the squares were the same.

But it turned out good, didn't it?

Then we also put trim above the bed. I painted the inside of the trim a shade darker then the walls. But when you put the trim between them you can't really tell it is a different color.

One day I will change it, but if I have to look at another paint brush right now I will barf...literally.

I didn't say that the bed making was perfect, but it was done.

The next picture is where Mr. Genius and I had to compromise.

I hate cords. I know that they are imperative to make electronics work. I just don't want to look at them. When you have a flat screen TV hanging on your wall, you have to look at the cords every night.

They drove me crazy!

So I wanted to cut a hole in the wall and stick the cords that go to our TV in the hole so they would be hidden from sight.

Mr. Genius didn't feel like having to redo drywall. So he came up with a cord cover and I just painted it the same color as the walls.

Just in case we forget which sink is ours, we have little mats to remind us.

Yes, I do realize that the plate isn't centered.

For some reason, I only think about it during nap time and with Romeo's room right above our bedroom hammering isn't an option.

There are still some finishing touches I need to do, but that would require me to get out of the house. So maybe next week we can work on that.

Military Bound

A couple of weeks ago Mr. Genius decided that I should start cutting every one's hair (except my own of course). As nervous as I was about doing it I had to agree with him because it was getting harder and harder taking the boys when it was time to get Wild Man's haircut. Being that Romeo is so mobile now he isn't content staying in a stroller or in my arms the whole time. Then Wild Man wants me to stand right beside him and if I move away for a second to get Romeo he won't sit still til I come back. Then when it is time for Romeo to get a real haircut I know he will have to sit in my lap and then Wild Man will be free to tear up the entire store?

So on Thursday Mr. Genius went out and bought some nice clippers/shaver (whatever you call them). We sat Wild Man down on a stool in front of the TV and with snacks in hand we sat pretty still for his first home hair cut. Mr. Genius did the clippers first because I wanted to make sure I would do it right. We put on the longest attachment (I don't know what they are really called) or #8. That was the biggest in the case. Just so I could see if I like it and then we could go down from there. Mr. Genius just did the bottom of his hair and then I got the scissors to do the top.Wild Man's hair, I thought, turned out just fine.

Then Romeo needed some trimming up. So while I worked on the top of Wild Man's head Mr. Genius put Romeo in his high chair to fix him up.

If I knew that this was the last time I would see my baby boy as a baby I would have savored this moment for a little longer.

I should have greatly emphasized that we were just cutting scraggly hairs and the hair around his ears.

Mr. Genius was super excited about his new toy and really wanted to see how it would really cut.

I looked up just as Mr. Genius had done the first cut which was right down the middle of his head.

Now I have never been one to make my hair ruin my day. In high school if I had a bad hair day I would be bothered by it but never once cried over hair. I have heard of girls that cried over and bad hair days and I will admit I have laughed at them.

Well my kryptonite/weakness is my boys hair.

I busted out in tears and cried hysterically for about an hour. I couldn't help it. It was as though in one second my 14 month old just grew up and wasn't my little baby anymore.

Poor Mr. Genius, he did feel so bad, he tried to make it better. But they only thing he could do was shave the rest of the hair.

So here is the result...

My baby boy looks like he is about to join the military.

My dad asked where his recruitment papers are.

At least his hair is still sticking up in the back.

Just now looking at the last picture I see that he is also getting some cleavage too. Maybe we should start some basic training exercises.

Mr. Genius was still uses the #8 when he cut Romeo's hair, but since it is so blond and fine. It looked like he was bald in places when I first looked at him. Mr. Genius  just stopped cutting after he did the top, so the sides and back weren't cut. I don't have the heart to finish the job.

Coincidentally the boys have never seen me cry. So when I did, it made Romeo cry and Wild Man jump up and try to hand me his snacks, any toy he could find, and remind me that he was a good boy and sat still during his hair cut all the while patting me telling me it was going to be OK.

Which just melted my heart and made me cry more.

Not a pretty day in the our household.

Here is a picture of Romeo a week before at Christmas. It isn't a good picture but the best picture I could find to show you what his hair looked like before.

Like I said, he did need a hair cut.

So is rogaine bad for babies?
