Peek a Boo cabinets

Unfortunately with this project I do not have a before picture.

I started these cabinets preblogging my projects seriously.

Do you forgive me?

I can describe them for you.

Picture some tall cabinets that are about 30 to 40 years old and that have been in a garage for about 30-40 years and possibly the last 10 years they haven't been touched.

All the ooze and dust and spider webs you would want in them.

But picture $35 for 2 of them!!!

Then you can look past the nastiness and see them painted white with crown molding to top!

Now remember that you are the only one that can see this vision and everyone at the house sale including your husband thinks you are crazy for even wanting these in your house.

Here is a picture of one of them with already 4 coats of white on it.

See how tall they are! That is why I loved them.

We have tall ceiling on our main floor and it would look funny with just little cabinets.

Here is our laundry room before we moved in.

Sorry Mr. Genius was more focused on the fact that there is a utility sink then the high ceiling.

This is what our laundry room looked like after having 12 people stay in our house for a week.

Just realized I still didn't show you a picture of the high ceiling.

Boy I am not being a good blogger today.

Maybe I will just go ahead and jump to the after picture.

You can see that one of the doors is cracked open.

I want to show you what I did to the inside of the cabinets.

Because they were completely disgusting. I couldn't get all the stuff off. When it was painted white you could see where the sides weren't completely smooth.

As you can see form the picture. I painted the inside of them blue for something a little unexpected and to hide all the imperfections.

Then once I painted them I modge podged the shelves with wrapping paper.

I really do wish I took a before picture so you can really appreciate the after picture.

Oh yeah I almost forgot.

I also spray painted the back part of the knobs.

Also remember this light fixture?

I painted that too.

Nothing is safe when I have a can of spray paint in my hand!

Then I took the top doors off.

Why?

Cuz still after 8 coats of paint the cabinets were still not the same color as the molding on top. A little frusterating to say the least.

Yes I was painting with the same paint. I do not understand why it was doing that.

So I took the doors off and went to the dollar store and got the turquoise tubs.

Speaking of laundry does anyone know how to get a dry erase marker out of a sweater vest?

Ah the joys of motherhood.
