White desk with Chalkboard top

How is the time change treating you all?

I keep hearing rumors of people getting an extra hour of sleep last night...that only works when your kids internal clock doesn't automatically go off at the EXACT same time everyday, no matter what time they go to bed or if the time changes.

Maybe when they go to college I will be able to sleep in past 6:00 aka now 5:00.

A girl can dream can't she?

Now I want to show you what I worked on while not getting more sleep.

Remember this desk?

I love her lines!

I went the heirloom white route, got some black handles, and painted the top with chalkboard paint!

I LOVE her!

I think she could even be a little vanity.

Even the back is pretty!

Some herringbone never hurt anyone.

If you are like me and you can't find any paper...you can just write right on the desk!

I am posting to these parties.

  19. Oh, this is such a great idea. It is making me think about where I'm going to do a chalkboard - on which piece of furniture!

BTW, I am SO in agreement about the extra hour of sleep! My kids are 11 and 6 1/2 and are waking up at the crack of dawn! Crazy!

  28. You gave me the greatest idea! Thank you! My daughter has a similar desk but I've painted the top white too. Of course she draws and writes on it, so it looks pretty shabby. that's the coolest thing, I will paint it black this weekend! She'll be able to draw and write over and over again! Ha! Merci!

  36. Great idea. My kids LOVE chalkboard paint. We've created two spaces, inside the pantry door and in a hallway. They are entertained there for hours and the best part is they play school and "teach" each other math, spelling, etc. GREAT STUFF! So many uses. On the sleep thing, it does get better. I have twins who are 22 months younger than my oldest. None were EVER sleepers or nappers. I spent years wondering when I would get some sleep, or, even better, have some time to myself in the early a.m. Didn't matter how early I got up, they were either already awake or trailed me by just a few minutes. At 11, 11 & 13 it's much better. In fact, at 8:41 a.m. CT, one is still sleeping. Enjoy, it goes fast.
