Hanging with my Ballard knock off

It first started with Centsational Girl, when she made this drying rack.

I thought...that would be great to have.

Then I saw Ballard Designs drying rack.

And I thought.... I. MUST. HAVE. ONE!

The price tag stopped me. Just like everything from Ballard's site.

So I showed a picture of these awesome drying racks to Mr. Genius, and he was all... I can make that.

I was like, ok lets do it.

And then 6 months later we started.

Isn't that just the way.

So here you go peeps. Our drying rack.

See the butterfly frame from last week.

Here's the deal.

I plan on making another drying rack...by myself. EEEEK!

Why would I do such a crazy thing?

Sawdust and Paperscraps is having a Buildhers party.

Build{hers} club Button

I thought I should use that party to put my big girl panties on and just build something.

Now wait...what does that have anything to do with the butterfly picture frame?

Well Ms. Picky pants, I plan on hanging it up between the two drying racks and would like to make sure it is centered. Plus knowing me when I hang the other drying rack up I may decide to put something else between them.

Now that's enough talking. Lets look at some more pictures of my new rack. hehehe

Also, I got in the top 10 of the DIY club with my stencil cabinet!

The winner is chosen by the one with the most votes.

So....if you don't mind stopping over there and voting for the project that you like the best.

If it happens to be mine...well, I will give you a big smoochy kiss and if you don't vote for me... I will put chicken broth in your cereal.

Just kidding...Maybe.

Oh that's fantastic! Great job! Actually adds to the decor unlike my prop up drying rack that doesn't quite fold down enough to actually hide it anywhere. I love this!

Katie this is awesome! I had to come over and wish you luck on the DIY Club contest. Even though we're competing. :o)

Oh, and is that my button I see displayed on this post? Thanks for the shout out about my Build{hers} Club party! I'm so excited you decided to do another one yourself. It will look so good with your butterfly frame in the middle and look at all that space to hang clothes from!

Hi Katie!

I just left you an award at my blog to pass on some love! Don't feel obligated to post about it if you find awards annoying or anything though, okay?

Just wanted you to know how much I've always enjoyed your blog and that you sincerely inspire me.

Love ya girl!

You have a beautiful laundry room! And I love your rack. I want a rack like that. I may just have to get to building on myself!

Your drying rack turned out really cool! Great thrifty project. You're so right about Ballard's prices. They're high, and considering that most of their mdse. is manufactured out of poor quality fiberboard, prices are REALLY out of line. Visiting from Linda's.

I think yours is much prettier than Ballard's! It looks so nice in the spot you have it in with a chandelier no less, lucky you.

Really great. I am definitely going to use this in my home. Awesome idea. I had never seen anything like it, only the floor stands and those just trip me up. I air dry my close all the time, hung on hangers in the shower, I know sad. So glad I stopped by from I Made It!

How fabulously fantastic!! I have the same love/hate with Ballard. You totally hit this one out of the park! :) I had my DH come look at it and we agreed we could do it, it would be 6 months later and we love that you posted this to inspire us.

I just saw this over at Sunday Showcase on Under the Table and Dreaming and thought you must have seen Centsational Girl's! I love yours and hers! I planned to make one for my new laundry room, however I just found out we are moving to Alaska, so that project will have to wait for a new house :(

Holly Lefevre said...

This idea - this drying rack is awesome. I so want one for my house! And a green alternative too!

Angie said...

I LOVE this! I just wish I had an actual laundry room rather than a garage with a washer and dryer in it. *Sigh* I am loving your blog!

Misty Makes said...

Love it. Eversince I saw Censational Girls I've wanted to build one. I've never build anything.
If you dont mind sharing, Whats behind the bead board? and is that just a couple sturdy pieces of fabric attached to the sides holding it open?

TropicanaRoses said...

I like this idea, but I am actually thinking of something for hanging extra clothes that need ironing on. I know. Who irons anymore? Me. But just the hubby's business clothes and the occasional church outfit, lol. I was thinking, "Why not a longer bracket so that it pulls out to 90 degrees? Then I can hang the clothes on that!" My laundry room is forever long, but not wide, and has a canning pantry the full length of one side. So, not much space to work with...that is why I like this.

I know that this is an old post but I wanted to comment on something in the photo. Did you make the that is (under) the counter top? I love it! I am making a counter skirt and your photo came up on Pinterest when I searched for ideas. Love it!
