Where I currently blog and my future one

Centsational Girl is having a blog party for us bloggers to show where we blog.

EVERYONE is participating.

Since I do what everyone else does...here is where I blog.

Yeah, not too exciting.

My big ol' butt sits on that big ol' chair during nap times and after the boys bed times when I am not working on a project, doing laundry, cleaning the house, or cleaning dirty hand prints from here to Timbuktu.

Right across from this seat and what I stare at all the time is this...

Which is why I believe I have done more for the these cabinets then anything else in our house.

I am really liking the cabinets white and with the blue background. It feels to light and airy. It will be like a breath of fresh air when we are stuck in the house for the 6 months of winter.

Unfortunately on the other side of my blogger butt chair is this...

So I go from light and airy to dark and depressing.

Now don't get me wrong, I think we have beautiful cabinets. They are great. But one of the first things I noticed about them, that has bugged me, is that there isn't any crown molding on the top of them.

And that really bugs me. To me cabinets without crown molding are like a woman with all her make up except for her mascara....it is just weird looking.

Sooooo... Last weekend when I was staring at these dark cabinets I mentioned to Mr. Genius that I would love the paint our kitchen cabinets white.

Have I mentioned my husband's love for dark wood?

So yeah, that suggestion didn't go over well.

Something about I have no respect for wood, I am obsessed with painting, these cabinets aren't cheap...yada, yada, yada.

Now to keep me from dreaming about a new white kitchen.

Enter my soon to be new blogger desk or blesk is you will.

I got this baby for about $20!

I think I am going to silver leaf it and put chrystal knobs on it. What do you think?

It will go in a corner in our room. So then maybe it will make me motivated to finish our bedroom before revamping the kitchen.

Or that is what we are hoping.

New and improved painted cabinets

Here is a story of some blah blah blah cabinets in my den.

They started out so bland and brown and had a big hole in the middle of them. What to do, what to do...

Well the answer for me to anything household  is to paint it...and add some cabinets in the middle of it.

Then as the crazy home owner would be she is wanting to change it again.

So now the cabinets looks like this.

Oh wait the flor de leis on the top fell over....

There that is better...but it is too dark. Sigh, I can never win.

But Veggies Tales is playing, so everyone is happy.

I decided to glue some cornices on the bottom with gorilla wood glue.

If this was actually holding the weight of anything I wouldn't have glued them up.

I just do it because I am lazy like that.

Now that I have found my new love of Halycon Green, I am like a crazy wild woman painting everything I can with it.

First I got this on clearance at Hobby Lobby for only $2.80

This thing is heavy people. If I have a intruder this would be what I would grab.

Then remember these candlesticks?

and they were made out of newel posts?

Well I finally got a place to use the tops that we cut off!

LOVE THEM!!

Then I got this little dandy at Goodwill.

Of course I had to paint it, but I went with heirloom white.

I also painted my big ol' W.

It was a dark red but I wanted it to be more bright red. Cuz every room needs a punch of red...doesn't it?

I had these sweet things in my dining room cabinet.

I LOVE the fall and decided to go on and get things started in the fall decorating department.

I will add more as the weather actually starts to feel like fall.

So I am pretty happy with my cabinets going from this...

To this...

Then to this!

Mr. Genius is not really happy with the new blue... I told him to not worry about it, in 6 months it will be a different color. ; )

I will be posting to these parties.

A kid friendly pottery barn knock off craft

Have you seen the chalkboard rocks that Pottery Barn is selling now?

Did you see that there are 4 rocks for $16?!!!

It's ludicrus people!

So I decided to make my own chalkboard rocks...for Free and get my boys to help with it!!

The boys got to help and quite frankly they LOVED it.

I took the boys to a creek to go on a mission to find smooth rocks.

And to conquer the world one limb at a time.

Look at that nice little muddy bottom.

They took it very seriously over finding the smoothest rocks.

It wasn't until towards the end that I got smart and got them to take off their shirts.

When we got home, we then cleaned to rocks with some old toothbrushes.

Another part that they Loved to do.

Then after lunch when they were dry we primed them.

Poor guy. Next time I will need to get one of those sprayer attachments. Then again...that could be dangerous.

Romeo just pointed out where Wild Man missed a spot.

Then he balanced the top on his knee.

I sprayed the chalkboard paint, which took a while.

I kept flipping and flipping and it seemed like I always missed a spot.

So today the boys finally got to color on their rocks today.

We had a lots of fun making all sorts of things.

Luckily I already had the spray paint on hand, but if I didn't I know that it would cost less then $10 for about 20 rocks.

Now you try it.

Halcyon Green tables

A few weekends ago, Sherwin Williams had a big sale.

And being the person who doesn't turn down a big sale... I had to go.

Because the 15 other cans of paint and 20 cans of spray paint were not tickling my fancy at the moment.

I skipped into my local Sherwin Williams and then I thought..."Uhh, what color am I going to get?"

Other people will have that figured out before they walk in a store.

But not me.

I blame it on the kids.

But they weren't there so.... I will blame my stupidity on the heat.

Then it hit me, I remembered my mom's buffet she painted it with Halycon Green.

Y'all, it is my new love.

This is a GREAT color!

But I want to know something. How did the Nester know that even though it is called Green and the swatch looks green, it is really blue?!

How do you learn such trickery?

When I brought the color home I knew what I was going to use it on.

I got this coffee table off of Freecycle.

Sometimes I am just in awe with what people give away for free.

I painted the bottom Halycon Green and the top white.

This will be another Craigslist flip.

Fingers crossed that it will sell.

I did just sold the black metal spray painted chandeliers today!! Who Hooo!

Then I got a wild hair and thought I would try something crazy.

Silver spray paint on this little table.

I saw some silver tables all over blog land and I have been drooling over them.

So I thought I would give it a try.

I gave it a big fat FAIL!!!

Sigh, but atleast it is just paint. And it can be painted over!

I took that Halycon Green and painted it.

Ah, much better!

But there is another problem.

Now I need to learn how to slipcover that chair.

One project always leads to another...doesn't it.

I will be posting to these parties.
