Family Pictures

As you all know I am a lover of Craigslist and especially free items of Craigslist.

One day I saw that a local photographer was trying to build her portfolio and willing to take pictures for free.

Well I totally jumped onto that deal.


When I emailed her about being interested in a photo session. She responded back by saying that she has read my blog and was shocked I was in her area!

Now I have met Megan from Grayden Lane Photography!

Doesn't the blogland make the world even that much smaller?

As we were going to get our pictures, I was a little nervous since (1) it was free (2) well I did find her on Craigslist...so who knows about the quality and (3) both boys have cuts and/or bruises on their face.

Isn't is just the way. No bruises and then you book a photo session and WHAM. It is like their faces are little magnets to get everything throw at them.

Now let me tell you that Wild Man was NOT in the mood to take pictures, but you wouldn't know with the pictures that she took.

We asked Wild Man to sit next to Romeo and this is the reaction we got.

Can I ask for prayer from now on for when he is a teenager. Goodness.

A picture of me!

I HATE getting my picture taken. I am much more comfortable behind the camera...and that doesn't mean me always taking the pictures. It is just when I see a camera, I run behind it.

I kid you not, before our wedding. I told Mr. Genius to enjoy the day of pictures of me cuz it won't happen again.

I have been like this since birth.

It is a curse.

Just ask my mom.

But I do really like this picture of us as a family and I LOVE the scroll door that is behind us so I thought I would still share.

I don't really look happy in the picture. It is probably because I was getting my picture taken.

So now you know what I look like, it maybe a couple of more years til I get another picture of me on this blog.

Our Labor Day Weekend

Don't you just love 3 day weekends?

That extra "off" day is just rejuvenating.

This Weekend, Mr. Genius ran an half marathon.

He did great! He even beat his last time by 20 minutes!

I am more impressed that he was still standing after wards. 

One day I would love to run a half marathon, but I loath running. 

It is a problem. 

So I just stand with the boys and cheer.

One of the favorite things my mom and I do is to look at houses. 

I just love to admire them. 

Then God granted me a husband that loves to look as houses as much if not more then me.

This morning Mr. Genius said, "Today I want to take you to an area that has some really neat houses."

Well I was game, and he wasn't kidding these were some neat houses.

Not only were they neat, but they were HUGE.

Like my mortgage is their electric bill HUGE.

This is just half the house.

I couldn't get a picture of the side of the house, but I am not even kidding when I say that it was as long as half a football field. 

Like I said.

HUGE!

This is the side of ONE house. Yes all the way to that last peaked roof. I think they connected 3 houses to make one.

Then we found out where a park was...on the beach.

Well we weren't exactly dressed for the beach but I wanted to check it out.

We walked down this hill.

Then down these stairs.

Then there was a beach!

With a park!

This is the beach house!

Look at the walkway on the pier.

I felt like I was going back in time.

It helped that it was a beautiful day. Not too hot and not too chilly.

When we went back up the stairs and then the hill. 

Romeo wanted some water.

I noticed the water fountain looked funny.

The little part is for dogs!

How cute is that?!

Mr. Genius was impressed with the turf tennis courts.

Then we went part to our little neck of the woods...where we have only one sided water fountains. 

Sorry little doggies.

I started back at working some more on the thorn in my side project.

Ugh, I have learned alot with redoing this stinkin' table... all with the help of Christa from Modern Vintage Interiors.

I have been working on it for 2 weeks!

Here is what it looks like now and it still isn't done. I am waiting for it to cure.

This impatient person is NOT use to have to wait for things to cure. I like to begin and finish projects during a naptime. 

Hopefully I will have a completed project by next Sunday.

Then I can tell you all I have learned so you won't make the same mistakes.

Thanks?! I think...

Before moving away from all our family my boys didn't know what a babysitter was. Grandparents and great grandparents were plentiful so there was no need.

Now we live far from any family, which gives us babysitters.

We don't use them very often, but sometimes there is just no way around it.

Last night was one of those nights.

Mr. Genius and I had to go to a parent meeting of Wild Man's preschool.

While we were eating supper, I mentioned that a babysitter was coming to play.

Wild Man jumped from his seat ran over to me, gave me a big hug and kiss.

Then looked at me and said "Mom...I love it when you leave me."

Uh...Thanks?

On another note. I have redone another table.

I hand painted and distressed the bottom.

The table is 46 inches in diameter and there is a leaf that is 18 inches wide. It is also in great shape.

I thought I would do something different this time.

I thought I would open it to you guys and see if any of my readers would like this table.

So does anyone live in the Chicago area?

Don't you just hate when colors look totally different in the pictures. The first picture is the more true color.

And people it is STURDY!
