I swear we don't talk that way!

Today I dropped Wild Man off at his preschool, which he loves by the way!

It is amazing how free you feel when you have one less child.

So Romeo and I ran some errands.

Since Wild Man's school only goes from 8:30 -11:30. I don't go back home, it just seems easier to stay out running errands or like today going as many places as I can to make a scene.

I decided to go to Goodwill. Because the Goodwill here is AWESOME!

Romeo agrees with me.

While I was comtemplated buying a accent chair for our bedroom for $13, Romeo found a big fire truck to play with.

This thing was HUGE. If Romeo laid down on the floor it would have been as long as him.

Romeo loved this truck and he drove it around the whole store while I shopped.

When it was time to go I tried to find creative ways for us to leave the big truck behind without a fight.

Unfortunately my creative juices have been used up with the projects on the house, so I failed at avoiding a meltdown.

Now let me tell you that Romeo has many talents. He is great at giving people hugs and kisses, he can unload the dryer faster then anyone, and he can know exactly how to get under he big brother's skin. But bless his little heart, speaking is not one of his specialties.

I am his mother and I do realize that I maybe the only person on this planet that can understand what he is saying sometimes. Because he may think he is saying the word hot dog but unfortunately it sounds more like he is asking for dodo bird then a hot dog.

So with this speaking impairment he can not pronounce the tr in truck he makes an f sounds instead of the tr sound.

So yes when my sweet precious son is asking for a truck, he is actually saying f*@k.

Lovely.

Also another very unfortunate thing about this is that although most every other word he says in not very articulate the word is says for truck is VERY articulate.

There is no doubt what he is saying.

So back to when we were in Goodwill today.

I tried my ever loving best to get him to park the truck under a table, in a "tunnel" of clothes, even in a big box of teddy bears.

Nothing worked.

So I did what I thought was the next logical thing.

Just put the truck up, pick up my son, and walk out the store.

So what does my little Romeo do.

Why he starts to scream f*@k over, and over, and over at the top of his lungs!

I am pretty sure that if everyone in the store didn't know that we were in the store before, they knew us as we were leaving.

A glimpse in the future?

Wild Man had his four year check up.

He again surpasses his mom and dad by being in the 75th percentile in his height.

We are so proud.

But after the Dr. left is when I had a big surprise.

Wild Man turned to me with a big smile on his sweet little face and said, "Hey mom, you know what my favorite part of seeing the Dr. was?"

Me: "No honey, what was your favorite part?"

Then with an even bigger smile on his face, my precious son that Christ showed his loving mercy by dying on the cross for said:

"When she took off my pants."

WHAT!!!!!

Can I tell you that it took every bone in my body to not react to that! I simply told him to put his shoes and coat on and then turned around and let out a silent scream.

I have now added to my daily prayer list that Wild Man will have a pure heart and that I will not become a grandmother before I am 50.

I am on a roll!

So here is the mantel and the wall before

Project Uno for 20 10 is completed.

Whoo Hoo!

Here is what the cabinets looked like before.

We got our consultation from The Lettered Cottage.

Then after some illegal beadboard wallpaper, some new shelves, white paint, and some new hardware. We now have this...

I am really happy with the results, but am having trouble trying to arrange things on the shelves. I just can't seem to get it right.

I am trying to go the cheap route by using things around the house. Mainly because I having found a place like Old Time Pottery here.

This weekend we are about to start Project Numero Dos.

I got all the apothcary jars through out the house to put on the mantel, now I have to figure out what to put in them.

I got some of them from my bathroom. They were full of Q-tips and cotton balls. Which is sensible for the bathroom, not so much for the den. I could fill one up with hot wheel cars, then my boys will think it was cool.

Click here and look at the first fireplace. Run your curser over the picture and see the square pattern over the mantle, that is my plan over this fireplace.

We don't think it would be too hard.

I know, famous last words.

Dad's Service

For those that couldn't make it to Dad's celebration service. Reid uploaded the video to go on the website.

Here is the link, http://thetedcelebration.blogspot.com/

I miss him so much.

Uh Oh

I just found an awesome website!

Although Mr. Genius may run out the door screaming when I show it to him.

It is called knock off wood.

Her name is Ana and she builds furniture that she sees in the pottery barn, restoration hardware, and crate and barrel catalogs. then she shows you the plans step by step how to make them.

Oh dear, I am sure there are about 5 more projects rolling around in my head now.

Oh and by the way Ana is completely gorgeous. It is kind of sick. She could atleast have a zit or something.

Just add it to my wrap sheet

I am a project person.

I am either working on a project or I am doing research over how to do my next project.

Awhile back ago I showed you what the The lettered cottage showed what to do with my den.

One of the things she told me was to put beadboard wallpaper on the back of the cabinets and add shelves to the middle empty section.

That was the planned project for the weekend.

Mr. Genius went to pick up a few things at Home depot for putting up the wallpaper and building the shelves, he noticed that there was not any wallpaper supplies.

That's weird.

So he asked an employee.

Apparently it is against the law to put wallpaper up in our area.

What!

Well considering I break the law every time I get behind the wheel, you can add having wallpaper on my walls to my list when I get arrested.

Peace out my sistas!

The Saga continues...

I received a call from my Dr.'s office today.

The nurse assistant proceeded to tell me that the Dr. didn't feel comfortable following through with my request due to the fact that she has never heard of a request like that before.

First of all, I don't blame the Dr. because it sounds completely ridiculous.

But second of all.

What the heck am I suppose to do!!!!

I am really nervous about driving around in all of this snow without a license.

After all we did get about 6 inches of snow today and will be getting some more tomorrow.

So my trusty husband went on the Social Security website and found where it stated that I needed a Dr.'s notice and that a birth certificate was not valid.

I highlighted that part.

I circled it.

I put stars around it.

Surely they will be able to find that section.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to say that I am a legal citizen in this country.

Riddle me this...

I started the new year out right...by loosing my wallet.

Technically the last time I remember seeing it was the day after Christmas, but couldn't work at getting my stuff back until we got back home.

It wasn't stolen...lucky me...It's just either been misplaced, thrown in the dumpster, or it hidden somewhere in mom's house. Either way I have looked everywhere and there is no wallet.

Unfortunately, the day that dad passed I had planned to get my Illinois license. So I had my social security card in my wallet at the time.

I know, I know, I know.

I have gotten enough grief from everyone else.

So today I went to see if I could get a new Social security card.

My driver's license was in my wallet, so I can't take that for a valid ID.

I have a passport but it is very expired, since I haven't been out of the country since my senior year of high school.

So what would you think would be a valid form of ID?

Birth certificate?

One would think, but apparently the social security office doesn't see the Birth certificate as a valid form of ID anymore!!!

What the heck!

So I ask what I could bring as a valid form of ID.

The asked me if I have been to the Dr. lately.

Uh, yeah. But what does that have to do with it?

Apparently if I get a handwritten note from my Dr. that states my name and birthdate on it that is more valid then a birth certificate!!!!

Is anyone else flabbergasted by this?

I mean really, how is that secure?

Cuz I am sure that noone has just gotten a piece of paper wrote down whatever name they want with a birthdate they would like and then sign a local Dr.'s name to it.

Nooooo, this is perfect a fail safe system they got there.

Come to think of it maybe I should change the year of my birth. I wouldn't mind being 29 again.

We're Baaaack

On New Year's Day we packed up the van and headed back to Chicago.

And when I say packed up...I really mean cram every inch of space that we had in our minivan with the entire stores of Toys R Us, Old Navy, and Old Time Pottery (oh how I miss you Old Time Pottery).

Now mind you, Mr. Genius took out the back bench seat in the van and we had a carrier on top of the van too.

I know... it was crazy.

Then our DVD player died.

On a 10 hour drive.

Wrap your minds around that.

But because of a lot of prayer, the boys did GREAT!

It may also have to do with the fact that we told the boys that if they didn't behave, we would take away the toys Santa brought.

But I am just sayin'...

We made a stop at the Bowling Green mall.

We had two purposes for stopping there. One was for one last time to eat at Chick-fil-a and for the boys to run around.

Turned out there wasn't a play area at this mall.

Um, Bowling Green mall, if you are reading this, you really need to add one of those. It is helpful to the sanity of all mothers in Bowling Green and ones that are just passing through.

Again, I am just sayin'...

So since there wasn't a play area, we improvised.

I can not promise that innocent passerbyers weren't not cut off, run into, or pushed during this improvision. (Don't think that is a word, but you get the point)

Another reason there should be a play area.

When we left TN is was 28 degrees. Which is cold for TN.

When we arrive at our house in IL...it was 8.

Which is apparently is warm up for IL.

Lord have mercy, what did I get myself into.

On Saturday Wild Man was so excited to go out and play in the snow. We did atleast hold him off until after lunch when it warmed up to a whopping 4 degrees.

You can't tell due to mom's thinking that any bare skin exposed to tempuratures below 20 degrees will instantly turn into frost bite... but this is one happy boy.

He lasted about 30 minutes outside in the North Pole, and loved every minute of it.

Romeo didn't want anything to do with the snow.

But then Romeo's uncontrollable urge to do what ever big brother does came over his little body when he saw how much fun daddy and Wild Man were having outside.

He had to try it out.

This is Romeo before he stepped outside.

This is Romeo after taken 10 steps outside.

Gotta give him points for trying.
