Here is a story of some blah blah blah cabinets in my den.
They started out so bland and brown and had a big hole in the middle of them. What to do, what to do...
Well the answer for me to anything household is to paint it...and add some cabinets in the middle of it.
Then as the crazy home owner would be she is wanting to change it again.
So now the cabinets looks like this.
Oh wait the flor de leis on the top fell over....
There that is better...but it is too dark. Sigh, I can never win.
But Veggies Tales is playing, so everyone is happy.
I decided to glue some cornices on the bottom with gorilla wood glue.
If this was actually holding the weight of anything I wouldn't have glued them up.
I just do it because I am lazy like that.
Now that I have found my new love of Halycon Green, I am like a crazy wild woman painting everything I can with it.
First I got this on clearance at Hobby Lobby for only $2.80
This thing is heavy people. If I have a intruder this would be what I would grab.
Then remember these candlesticks?
and they were made out of newel posts?
Well I finally got a place to use the tops that we cut off!
LOVE THEM!!
Then I got this little dandy at Goodwill.
Of course I had to paint it, but I went with heirloom white.
I also painted my big ol' W.
It was a dark red but I wanted it to be more bright red. Cuz every room needs a punch of red...doesn't it?
I had these sweet things in my dining room cabinet.
I LOVE the fall and decided to go on and get things started in the fall decorating department.
I will add more as the weather actually starts to feel like fall.
So I am pretty happy with my cabinets going from this...
To this...
Then to this!
Mr. Genius is not really happy with the new blue... I told him to not worry about it, in 6 months it will be a different color. ; )
I will be posting to these parties.

What a wonderful improvement!
Super great job, now looks and is a custom cabinet. No else in your neighborhood has one like it.
What a difference. It looks great! You did a wonderful job. Love the candle sticks also.
I am loving it! They look so much better, especially with the addition of the shelves and beadboard. Great transformation!
Love it! Looks so nice! I'm debating on whether to paint our kitchen cabinets. Did you use a plain white? gloss?
Cute!! Love the little red birdies =)
i love it! i think it looks perfect with the blue inside and makes your decorative touches stand out more.
Beautiful cabinet makeover, I like how it's neat and organized. Can't wait to organize mine, too!
Love the change! They even look bigger! Great job!
Love the end result! Very pretty :^) Maybe this will get me motivated to finish painting my corner cabinets. Now I won't be afraid to paint the back a different colour than white. I can actually see now how great it will look!
The blue looks nice against the white. I love the decor!
Oh, Katie...it is just GORGEOUS!! You did and amazing job, seriously. I love, love, love the blue and red. The little red birdies are too cute.
Hope you're having a blessed Monday, friend!

What a difference!!! It's beautiful!
I knew that was Halcyon Green as soon as I saw it. Such a pretty color. I love your accessories too. It looks so nice.
Oh I just love this entire look, that Robins egg blue is a favorite color of mine!
Just beautiful!

I'm laughing at your "in six months it will be a new color!" Isn't that the truth!
Cool makeover, oh, and a cute kid.
Katie, I think you did a super job on the hutch. Making it white was huge. If you're looking for a new background color, dark brown would be very dramatic. Will wait to see what you decide.

I love it! It looks like something from Pottery barn or another similar high-end cabinet now! Did you spray paint the cabinet or use a roller?

Great transformation. So many people have a dull built in and you did a great job of showing how simple it is to make it your own. Love it! Lisa~
I love the built-ins. You did a really nice job on them. I often find my finish projects are more a process, too.

That cabinet looks incredible especially painted blue inside. I love all the accents. Especially the ones you created yourself. Love the pops of red off the blue and white background.
Love the new cabinets particularly the blue background.
FYI there are some pop ups that are being associated with this page. I had to close out and come back and they did it again. Hmmm. Just wanted you to know.
So pretty. I love the little red birds!
Wow, I can't believe those are the same cabs! Incredible makeover! Makes you wonder why they were wood to begin with. The extra shelving really took it to the next level. Outstanding DIY!
