Mom's house part three

If you have missed the first part of the tour of mom's house you can look here and here.

Let's move onto the den and kitchen area shall we?

Before you think that we crowd around this piano singing hymns like the perfect family. Please know that we are not a musical family by any stretch of the imagination. The piano came with the house, it looks pretty so it stayed. The grandsons get the most use out of it.

Yesterday I mentioned that my mom has another obsession other then silver. See that cabinet on the right. It is full of milk glass. Everywhere we go she looks for milk glass.

It is really pretty, but I also think my mom has found all the milk glass this side of the Mississippi. She doesn't think so...so the hunt continues.

See here is another piece of milk glass...on silver

Let's move on into the kitchen.

This is the view standing from the kitchen looking into the den.

(This picture my mom took a few weeks ago)

My mom got those chairs from goodwill for $40 that included a crazy looking table that she sold at a garage sale. I love those chairs.

Here is her kitchen with some 4th of July decorations.

There is also a little desk in the kitchen. I would love to have a desk in my kitchen.

Since we are in town, mom brought down the table she has in the playroom for the boys to eat in. I love the rug underneath.

It is a vinyl rug that was $4.50 at Old Time Pottery. I really miss Old Time Pottery.

To the right of the kitchen is the sitting room...and where we spend most of our time. It is just so cozy and we all cram in here rather then spread out in the den.

I love this little corner of the room.

At the other end of the kitchen is the laundry room.

I love the colors of this room.

Mom painted the cabinet the Nester's Halcyon Green. Even though it is blue yet it is called green. So confusing.

That's it for today.

Tomorrow we will be moving to the upstairs.

Mom's house part two

I am continuing on the tour of my mom's house...cuz it is fun!

Don't most people like to see what others houses look like?

Or am I the only one.

Well I know there is one more person. My mom. We look at the outside of houses and dream about what the inside looks like all decorated.

Onto the tour.

Since we have seen the back of my mom's house I thought I would show you the front of mom's house.

Mom painted the numbers on the door herself.

Now lets look into the inside of the house.

That dresser in the entry was my great great grandfather's. I remember my grandmother would always put her Christmas village on the top every Christmas.

This dresser houses my absolute favorite picture of my dad and I at my wedding.

Above it is a fun plate collage.

How fun are they!

To the left of the entry is the dining room.

I believe it is safe to say that my mom loves plates.

Her new obsession is silver along with something else that I will show you tomorrow.

My Seattle sister in law Kat and son Griffin came into town. We are having so much fun together.

Just for kicks Kat put Griffin's hair into a pony tail. Romeo couldn't stop staring at him and repeatedly asked if he was a girl. Then both my boys decided they wanted to be a girl too.

Mr. Genius would be so proud.

So here is Romeo showing off his pig tail.

And here are all three boys.

Wild Man pretended he wasn't amused.

The tour shall continue tomorrow!

Mom's house part one

Well we made it!

Phew!

Our 10 hours drive turned into a 12 hour drive, due to extra stops.

Romeo actually did great.

Wild Man...not so much.

He was so excited to go to JJ's house that he couldn't control himself.

Then again he can't control himself when he gets a new pair of underwear.

But we did make it and I am NOT looking forward to the drive back.

I would like to look into inventing teleporting...that would be helpful.

Anyways, back to something you all might actually enjoy.

My mom loves to decorate she also likes to change things around constantly.

Whenever I came home while in college. My first question would be is my bedroom in the same place and where is the trash can now.

That is the absolute truth.

Mom is always looking for just the right look.

So I thought I would take pictures of mom's house to show you. I may do this everytime I come because it will always be different.

Mom just got her back porch screened in and I thought I would start the tour of her house there.

She went with the black, white and lime green colors.

I love it!

So crisp and clean.

What is a porch without a owl lamp to watch over you.

Even has a little bistro table to eat a snack out.

Let's move on to the view from the porch.

When mom and dad bought this house we thought it was pretty random to have an aisle way in the middle of your backyard but it has turned out to be great.

The boys run back and forth like it is a race track.

They check on the fish in the pond and then run back.

Come back tomorrow I will continue the tour at casa de JJ.

It's folding time!

One more project for my laundry room is done!

First I made this curtain.

Then came my cabinets and blue chandelier.

Now comes my newest project.

We started with a counter top from Ikea with some skinny legs.

Then using the same technique as I did with the no sew curtains. I made a no sew table skirt!

Ta Da!

This was such an easy project.

All I needed was a staple gun, glue gun, and no sew iron on tape.

Now I have a lot of storage space to store some cute kids that I found wondering around.

I think I will keep him.

Right now it is a favorite spot for hide and seek, but eventually it will hold a lot of storage!

Look at all my space to sort and fold laundry!!!

But now what will I use my dining room table for?

Again, here is the before.

And the after.

To all my praying readers out there. I have a little prayer request.

Tomorrow me, my mom and the boys are driving 10 hours in the car to TN.

Yes, we are crazy. I have stocked up on lots of the dollar items from Target, got our snacks ready, movies ready, and our ear plugs ready. Unfortunately Benadryl doesn't work on Wild Man. I am not above  drugging my children to keep my sanity, but since it only makes him even more wilder. It isn't an option.

So we are really praying for an uneventful trip. You know where no one gets killed or I do not get horse from yelling at my boys to be quiet.

Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend and a safe 4th of July!
