Reminder

As most of you know we have only lived in this house, this state, this region of the country for almost 10 months.

I can't believe it has already been 10 months.

We moved 10 hours away from ALL family and friends. Well almost all family I do have one brother and his fam in Seattle and Mr. Genius has a brother in Arizona. But just the rest of the fam was within a one hour radius from us in TN.

We had no doubt that moving here was where God wanted us to be, yet it was still hard to leave.

My mom is staying with us this week and I remember how nice it is to have family close by. Plus I love for my boys to grow up close to family. I didn't have that as a child.

I hate even more being away now that dad is living his life in heaven and we are not there for mom.

Some days I just want to pick up and pack the boys in the van and drive the 10 hours to get back "home" as fast as possible.

Then the other day I found this.

This may just look like another card with an email address and church on it for everyone else. But to me it is the key to prove that we are just where we need to be. I will never through it away.

For those of you that don't know the full story about Meagan you can read the whole story here and the rest of the story here.

For those of you who don't have the patience to read two more stories. The quick version is that I meet Meagan at the airport on my way back to TN from just putting a contract on our house here. She moved just 9 months prior from the city I lived in TN to the city I would be moving to. We knew some of the same people too. She too realize the God put us together and invited me to her church, which finding a good church was my top prayer request when moving here. Then three weeks after we met and 2 days after after we closed on the house here she was killed in a car wreck by a drunk driver.

God has the master plan... even though our earthly bodies may not understand it sometimes.

Finding Meagan's card was just the reminder I needed to know that I am where I need to be.

Thank you Lord for reminding me.

Foyer...check!

One more project is complete...Hallelujah!

So lets go back and remember how boring the foyer looked before.

Then we started to put up wainscotting.

Then we got the wainscoting up.

Then we got it painted.

Then last but certainly not least Mr. Genius finished the wainscoting for the rest of the foyer!!!!

Sorry about the bad photos...it started raining when I finally had a minute to take the pictures. Not that I am a photographer or anything but I do know that natural light makes it look so much better.

We...meaning Mr. Genius...put some more boards up the staircase. I like it even better.

I am really happy with how it looks!

Yay! I have been doing the happy dance ever since I got done with the painting.

Happy Easter!

Today we celebrated the fact that our Lord is risen!

I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter!

A Winner and a sneak peak

To find out about the winner please go to my giveaway page

HERE

Just another morning

This morning I went into the garage to empty out our recycling bin. ( I am slowly but surely learning becoming a tree hugger).

Since my boys get up at the crack of dawn it was till fairly dark out and there are not any windows in our garage.

I turned on the light and it just blew out.

Lovely.

So I kept the door to the kitchen open to let light in.

Just when I turned around to head back to the kitchen I heard little footsteps running towards the garage.

I knew Romeo was looking for me so I called out that I was in the garage.

His little blond head appeared.

He smiled real big and said, "Bye, bye mommy."

And the shut the door.

Crap... it is stinking dark in here.

"Romeo can you open the door, please."

I hear muffled giggles.

"Honey mommy can't see...can you please open the door."

Then Romeo decided to show me his new trick.

He locked the door.

And I right then completely regretted not child proofing that door.

Mr. Genius was in the shower, I was in my Pjs, and I just remembered how Mr. Genius and I talked about how we need to put a spare key out somewhere.

So I did what I would like to think most parents would do in that situation.

Bang frantically at the door and tried to bribe anything I could think to get him to figure out how to unlock the door.

After about 5 minutes Romeo figured it out.

I was free and Romeo got some M & M's for breakfast.

So we were both happy.

Joy of paint

Last night we got our foyer painted!!!

Have I mentioned how much a hate builder's paint?

I mean really hate it.

I hate that when you breath on it, it leaves a mark.

I hate that when you get it wet you will always see a water mark.

I hate the way you brush up against it with a sweater on and you will be able to see that color on the wall forever and ever, amen.

I am not bitter or anything.

So I knew when I walked into our house and saw this.

I knew we would be looking for a good painter.

Because as much as I hate builder's paint, I don't hate it enough to climb a huge ladder to paint the 2 story walls on top of those steps.

So thanks to a little bit of a tax refund... our foyer now looks like this!

I have some more plans for the foyer! So you will have to check back to see them!

Also don't forget about my giveaway that ends tomorrow.
