Goodwill trip

Yesterday I ran into Goodwill (Mr. Genius was keeping the boys so I didn't have another incident like that last one).

I got some fun stuff!

See...

I had plans for the little candlestick but I can't find my cheese dome. Wanna see what I had planned?

This was from Thrift Decor Chick. She is amazing.

Since I couldn't find my cheese dome due to my problems with organizing, most people would use this opportunity to organize the cabinets so one could actually find things. But that is not fun to me so instead I went on with another project. I am sure none of you would have guessed that.

So I painted the tall candle stick.

Then I distressed it.

Then I glued the dome/vase thingy on top.

This morning I found a place for it!

Yes I do realize the medium size jar has fake snow in it. But I can't figure out what to put in it.

Easiest project I have done in a long time!

It only cost me $4!

The glass vase was $1.99 and the Candle stick was $1.99!

But the best part was that no saw required for this one!

Love it Katie! Your creativity knows no bounds. Hope you find that dome cause I love what TDC did with hers. Hey, how about coffee beans/grounds for that medium sized jar? Just a thought.

Looks great! I would not have guessed that was snow, it looks almost like salt, haha! I am so bad at losing my Goodwill purchases too...

I saw the same cloche/cheese domes at TDC a week or so ago. I remember wondering how she found those at her Goodwill and then I found two today! Just posted my finds over at my blog, I had such a good-Goodwill day!

Super cool. I've seen a few of these around and I keep asking (with no reply), how do you glue glass onto wood? Hot glue? Or is there some magical glue out there that I am not aware of? Your huricane/candlestick project is the bomb! Love it clustered with the two glass jars.

Very pretty! As for the one with the snow in it, you could try a terrarium. I've been collecting some glass jars from Goodwill and am planning to do some of those soon. Martha has some good instructions for them. I think they might be on her website. Can't remember if that's where I saw it or if it was in one of her books.

So pretty! Instant Jar filler--old books, sheet music, etc.....--just stick 'em through a paper shredder--the cross-cut ones work best--then you have really pretty vase filler or gift packaging! Plus it gives you a good re-use of all those paperbacks in the attic or garage!

Cute stuff from Goodwill (after you fixed it up obviously ;) Our Goodwill is awful, hardly any housewares ever except for gross fake dusty flowers. Ha!
