Foyer...check!

One more project is complete...Hallelujah!

So lets go back and remember how boring the foyer looked before.

Then we started to put up wainscotting.

Then we got the wainscoting up.

Then we got it painted.

Then last but certainly not least Mr. Genius finished the wainscoting for the rest of the foyer!!!!

Sorry about the bad photos...it started raining when I finally had a minute to take the pictures. Not that I am a photographer or anything but I do know that natural light makes it look so much better.

We...meaning Mr. Genius...put some more boards up the staircase. I like it even better.

I am really happy with how it looks!

Yay! I have been doing the happy dance ever since I got done with the painting.

Very very nice. The added moulding really makes your hallway look more significant. It's great how moulding can do that. The extra peices on the way up the stairs made a big difference too. Thanks for sharing.

This is my first time to your lovely blog via Twice Remembered. Wow! What a transformation. Thank you for posting because although my home is much older (1880s Victorian) our entry way looks similar to yours and we have been debating wainscoting. Thank you for the inspiration to just do it!

Gorgeous! I cant wait to do this in my house. Did you use real wainscoting, or just the top chair-rail boards and mdf to create a recessed look?

I have another question for you: Are your walls textured at all? We are going to do this at our house but a few things are holding us back. One is that we have textured walls and I was never sure how it would look. BTW, I am featuring this project this week!

The Three Beauties said...

Did you have a really tall ladder or did you have to use scafulding(spelling??) We have valted ceilings in our stairwell too and let's just say the painting left a little to be desired. ;)

This is suck a great project and relatively inexpensive. I was actually so inspired I used some of my Christmas gift cards to buy the materials and we have started it down my hallway. Its all up but I'm still filling nail holes and caulking seams. I cain't wait to paint! Thanks for sharing
